2024 NCHSAA Football Championship (4A)


CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The Grimsley Whirlies football team claimed their second state title in school history with a 35-23 victory over the Rolesville Rams in the 4A State Championship.

Grimsley quarterback Faizon Brandon was named the game's MVP after scoring three touchdowns—two passing and one rushing. Running back Mitchell Summers rushed for over 100 yards and scored two touchdowns, earning him the Offensive MVP.

On defense, senior defensive end Bryce Davis, a Duke signee, was named Defensive MVP. He played a crucial role in the 4th quarter, recording multiple sacks and pressures to help seal the win. Senior safety Ryan Debow also made a key impact, securing two interceptions, with his second interception locking up the victory for Grimsley.

With the win, the Whirlies finished the 2024 season undefeated at 16-0, marking their second state title in the last five years.
