2025 ACC Men's Tennis Championship
Stanford Claims First-Ever ACC Men’s Tennis Title in Debut Season
CARY, N.C. – The Stanford Cardinal didn’t take long to make their mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
In their first season as an ACC member, the No. 8 nationally ranked Cardinal clinched the 2025 ACC Men’s Tennis Championship with a 4-2 win over No. 6 Virginia at Cary Tennis Park. It’s Stanford’s first-ever ACC title, and they earned it by taking down a perennial powerhouse in Virginia.
New to the league following the ACC’s summer expansion, Stanford (22-5, 10-3 ACC) showcased its depth and resilience throughout the postseason. Max Basing, who delivered the clinching singles win, was named the ACC Championship MVP.
Virginia (20-7, 9-4 ACC), making its sixth straight appearance in the final and 21st overall, came out strong, capturing the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. Stanford's top pair of Nico Godsick and Hudson Rivera provided a spark with a 6-3 victory on court one, but the Cavaliers grabbed the early 1-0 lead.
Stanford quickly leveled the match at 1-1 with a win by default on court one in singles, then surged ahead behind back-to-back wins from Alex Razeghi on court five and Henry von der Schulenburg on court four to make it 3-1.
Virginia's Dylan Dietrich (No. 26) answered with a solid win on court two, trimming the deficit to 3-2. But it was Basing (No. 95) who sealed the deal, earning a straight-set victory on court three to clinch the title for the Cardinal.
