2025 NCHSAA Indoor Track & Field Championships
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Cardinal Gibbons women and Mallard Creek men won the 2025 NCHSAA 4A Indoor Track and Field Championships at JDL Fast Track on Saturday.
This marks Mallard Creek's first Indoor Track and Field Championship and Cardinal Gibbons' second, their first in 4A after winning the 1A/2A/3A Championship in 2011.
In the women's competition, Cardinal Gibbons' 4×800 Meter Relay team (Maggie Whitham, Addy Mitchell, Kaitlyn Estep, and Hannah Rae Shaffer) won by over 10 seconds. Estep also won the 1000 Meter Race, while Shaffer took second in the 1600 and won the 3200. Tessa Kranick tied for first in the pole vault.
Cuthbertson’s streak of seven consecutive championships (excluding the COVID-19 year) ended with a runner-up finish. Their 4×800 Meter Relay team (Juli D’Errico, Cece Taft, Ava Walters, and Josie Schihl) took second, and they also finished fourth in the 4×200 Meter Relay.
Maya Love of Independence earned Most Valuable Player honors, winning the 55 Meter Dash, 300 Meter Race, and running the first leg of the 4×200 Meter Relay winning team.
In the men’s competition, Mallard Creek excelled in the relays. Mason Kelly, Khalil Price, Christian Dixon, and Nassor Ashenafi won the 4×200 Meter Relay, and Nyan Brown, Price, Justin Watts, and Kelly claimed the 4×400 Meter Relay. The Mavericks also finished second in the 4×800. Brown won the 55 Meter Hurdles, and Dixon took the 55 Meter Dash.
Cuthbertson finished second in the men's competition, led by Tommy Pringle II, who won the High Jump, and Houston Tillotson, who placed third in the same event. Robert Lausen, Brenden Robbins, Aronne Cosentino, and Davian Hall took second in the 4×200 Meter Relay.
Enloe’s Alexander Chapman-Evans won the Long Jump, finished second in the Triple Jump, and placed seventh in the 55 Meter Hurdles, earning him the Most Valuable Player Award.
